Literary Lessons from the LOTR - Teacher’s Edition

Though one goal of this study is to acquaint the student with Tolkien’s writings, the more important goal is that they learn literary analysis skills that will carry over to their studies of other works, and help develop their writing skills. There are chapter summaries/reviews, vocabulary exercises and quizzes, writing assignments and comprehension questions. But wait, there’s more, much more! With fifteen Unit Studies, the student will explore: Tolkien the Author and Creator of Middle Earth; Linguistics: Etymology and Philology; Setting: the World of Middle Earth; a Map Study; an introduction to ancient epics; Old English: Beowolf (2 Units); Genre: Fantasy as Literature; Poetry; Arthurian Romances (2 units); Unifying Elements: Theme & Motif; final research project. Optional extra units on Religious Elements, and Movies and the Classics. Has all answers to comprehension questions, quizes, tests, etc.

This course is flexible regarding the amount of parent/teacher input. Your student may work independently, however, the more input by the parent, the more benefit the student will gain.

Our 15yo son LOVED  this course!
