These lessons are designed for a child who is ready to begin a formal introduction to the language arts. Unlike most language arts “programs” that are full of unnecessary busywork and “twaddle”, this volume will introduce an elementary level child to the skills he needs to begin learning in an enjoyable, varied way…each day a little different, building on what was previously learned. I hesitate to place a “grade level” on this volume, as it is so important to wait until the child is ready to learn, and yet also important to sometimes “spur” a child on, as any parent homeschooling using the techniques of Charlotte Mason knows. So, for you who are wanting to know when to begin this book, here is my suggestion: begin when your child is reading on his own and ready to move on from phonics to the next level of language arts - grammar - and is ready to begin writing creatively. I wrote this book for my own children to use anywhere from ages eight to twelve, depending upon the child. If this volume seems too difficult, you may wish to begin with the previous volume, Language Lessons for the Very Young which I intended to be used before this volume. Contains full color fine art for picture study, copywork lessons, grammar instruction, creative writing, poetry lessons, letter writing, and much more.

Drawn Into the Heart of Reading - Teacher’s Guide $70.00
This is a unique literature-based curriculum specifically written to use with multiple ages at the same time. Students of multiple ages are united by focusing on a similar topic. Yet, learning is individualised through book selections and daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for the reader.
Another distinction of Drawn into the Heart of Reading is that the instruction and activities can be used with any literature, and are not limited to a prescribed or recommended reading list. This flexibility allows you to use your own discretion in selecting literature for your students to read. The structure allows you to individualise the pace at which each student completes the reading.
